Library Journal Review
The best-run library is one with well-defined policies. Writing them takes time, and this guide will help all public librarians save precious hours. Brumley (Dallas PL), who has created policy and procedure manuals for many Texas libraries, gathers here more than 300 policies, procedures, and forms from 114 U.S. and Canadian libraries of all sizes. There are policies for circulation, reference service, Internet use, mission statements, collection development and maintenance, gifts and donations, library boards, exhibits and bulletin boards, meeting rooms, and more. Electronic versions are found on the accompanying CD-ROM, along with an additional 22 policies. The easy-to-use CD-ROM is keyword searchable, and policies and forms can be modified to a particular library's needs. Policywriting has never been so easy! This title can be used in conjunction with Jeanette Larsen and Herman Totten's Model Policies for Small and Medium Public Libraries or with sample online policies posted by libraries; highly recommended.
