Gerding's (manager, Library Grants Blog; The Accidental Technology Trainer) third edition of her manual on securing library grant funding offers vital updates for all library grant writers. This book is organized into three parts, each useful by itself. The first section guides users through the grant process, explaining how to plan for success and design effective grant projects. For librarians new to grant writing, the author demystifies how to research funding opportunities, how to create winning proposals, and, once the grant is received, how to implement and evaluate. The book also includes a broad range of templates, including worksheets and checklists. A third section shares success stories from nine librarians with winning grant proposals. Highlighted are successful grants from public libraries, a library system, and two university libraries. The sections on lessons learned, challenges, and advice reflect valuable insights from librarians who have already gone through the process. VERDICT Small and medium libraries will especially find this a helpful guide to grant writing. There's no need to reinvent the wheel when this compilation of exhaustive and easy-to-navigate resources is available.
